Tin Workshop
Museum of Spanish Colonial Arts
“Heart’s Desire” a Tin Work Workshop with Kevin Burgess de Chavez includes a brief history of New Mexico Tin Work along with a description of the tools and techniques.  Students will start with tin heart ornaments to familiarize themselves with tools and materials.  Cost is $75 for Society members and $90 for non-members.  (Cost includes a $15 materials fee.)  Proceeds benefit the educational programs at the Museum.  All participants need to bring a brown bag lunch.  Class size is limited to 12.  Your payment confirms your space is reserved. Agalu presents two West African drumming and dance performances at 1 and 3pm; audience participation is encouraged, but not required, and is appropriate for all ages. 2PM New Mexico Centennial Children’s Book Author Vaunda Micheax Nelson presents about her book Almost to Freedom.  The author was inspired to write the award-winning book by a visit to the exhibition Multiple Visions, A Common Bond on the Girard Wing.  By Museum admission, New Mexico residents Free on Sundays.

Exhibition Opening: Breaking the Rules
Lecture: Women’s World will be presented by Margarete Bagshaw in the Museum Theater, 2:00 pm  Margarete Bagshaw – the third generation of the only three-generation female painting dynasty ever - started painting at age 25. Over the past 20 plus years she has taken the mantle of the two generations before her, which includes her grandmother Pablita Velarde and mother Helen Hardin, and, without any excuses, broken the rules too. GranMary’s Place,  Story Hours of Native American Tales
MUSEUM of INDIAN ARTS and CULTURE
MIAC presents a Series of Story Hours of Native American Tales, for all ages in the MIAC Discovery Room. During winter months, the dark and cold time of the year, it is traditional to share stories, so come and share in this tradition. This Sunday February 19th our storyteller is TBA , so bring the whole family. FREE admission for New Mexico residents on Sundays with ID, and always FREE admission for 17 and younger. GranMary’s Place storytelling program at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture is dedicated to and celebrates the memory of Docent, Mary Sudbrink. Mary loved life, loved children, and loved telling stories to children visiting the Museum.
